Profile and CV import

Your profile drives your searches, your match scores and everything RolePort writes for you.

Last updated 31 October 2026

Everything RolePort writes comes from your profile, so a fuller profile gives better results. The AI may reword your facts but may not add to them.

Import your CV

On Profile, drop a PDF or .txt file up to 5 MB under Start from your CV. To update later, use Import a newer CV.

  • With an AI provider, the AI reads the CV and fills in your profile: experience, education, skills, contact details, languages and extra sections.
  • Without AI, RolePort picks out your skills, email, phone and profile links, and you fill in the rest.

Nothing is saved until you press Save, so you can check the result first.

A scanned CV? RolePort reads the text in a PDF. If your PDF is only a picture of a page, there's no text to read, so paste your details in by hand or import a .txt version.

Change what the AI picks up

The CV reading prompt is on the Profile page and in Settings. You can read it, change it, or use the quick changes: Have AI write my summary, or ask for a section of your own, such as "Open source". Save the prompt, then read your CV again to see the result. See Customizing the prompts.

The basics

Your name, headline, email, phone with country code, up to 4 links (LinkedIn, portfolio, GitHub) and a summary. Links and contact details are printed at the top of your CV.

What you're looking for

  • Roles you want: up to 10. Your first role is the default search.
  • Work setup: onsite, hybrid or remote.
  • Country you live in, with your city and, in the Philippines, your region.
  • Countries you'd work in besides your own: add these to search overseas. Jobs there are flagged for visa sponsorship instead of ruled out.
  • Countries you can already work in without a visa: so the fit evaluation doesn't flag them.

Skills

Sort your skills into three groups. Your quick match score counts them differently.

GroupWhat goes hereCounts for
Strong skillsWhat you use every day and would be hired forMost
Also comfortable withUsed before, could pick up again quicklyLess
Currently learningCourses, certificates in progress, self-studyLeast

Experience and education

Add your roles, most recent first, with key achievements one per line. RolePort copies employers, job titles, dates and education straight from here into your CV, so they're always accurate.

Languages

Add each language with your level, such as "Fluent". Some postings require a language, and the fit evaluation checks this before scoring.

Extra sections

Add Projects, Certifications, Publications, Achievements or any section of your own, up to 12. Each one prints on your CV in the order shown, under its own heading.

Goals and deal-breakers

Career goals help judge career fit. Deal-breakers are things you'd never accept, such as "no night shift". A job that clearly hits one is excluded from your ranking, but only if the posting says so. A posting that doesn't mention it isn't ruled out.
