Match scores and AI evaluations

Two ways to judge a job. An instant quick match from your skills, and a full AI evaluation that reads the posting.

Last updated 31 October 2026

Quick match

Every job shows a quick match score as soon as you have skills in your profile. It's free, instant and needs no AI. RolePort compares your skills with those in the posting and shows You have and They also want. Strong skills count most and skills you're learning count least.

It only compares skills, so use it for sorting, not for deciding.

AI fit evaluation

Click Evaluate fit on a job, or analyze up to 10 from the results. The AI reads the posting against your profile and checks the gates first, then scores the job.

Gates

Gates are yes or no questions that a good score can't outweigh.

GateWhat it checks
EligibilityWhether you're legally allowed to hold the job: work rights, where applicants may live, clearances and licences
LanguageEach language the role requires, against your profile
LocationWhether you could do the job without relocating

Each gate comes back as Pass, Check (your judgement is needed, such as when you'd need a visa), Fail, or for eligibility Unverified (a foreign employer that doesn't say who it accepts). Doubts are shown with the posting's own words, quoted.

Scores

ScoreWeightWhat it measures
Technical skills30%Core requirements against your skills
Experience25%The nature of your work, not just job titles
Culture fit15%How the role matches your preferences
Career alignment30%Whether it moves you towards your goals

RolePort works out the overall score itself from these weights, so the AI can't inflate it.

Overall scoreBandAdvice
75 and upStrong fitDefinitely apply and tailor everything
60 to 74Good fitApply, and address the gaps in your cover letter
45 to 59Moderate fitConsider it carefully before investing time
30 to 44Weak fitProbably skip unless there's a strategic reason
Below 30Poor fitSkip this one

Excluded jobs

A job is excluded from the ranking, whatever its score, if a gate fails, it hits one of your deal-breakers, the posting says it's closed, or its deadline has passed. RolePort shows the reason, and you can still apply if you disagree.

Getting better evaluations

  • Fill in your languages, the countries you can work in, your goals and your deal-breakers.
  • On a local model, use a 12B or larger model. See Local models.
  • A Check is a question for you, not a rejection. Read the quote and decide.
